Culbertson dropped both non-conference games at Fairview on Saturday, Jan. 3. The Cowboys fell by a 5041 final. Culbertson held a 22-21 half-time lead, but Fairview tied the game, 35-35, in the third quarter. The Warriors outscored Culbertson by a 15-6 margin in the fourth period. Reaching double figures for the Cowboys were Plenny Williams with 13, Brooks Solem with 13 and Cal Steppler

Froid/Lake Girls Beat Wildcats


The Froid/Lake Red Hawks completed a winning weekend in girls’ basketball by downing Plentywood, 50-42, on Saturday, Jan. 3. After holding an 11-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Red Hawks scored 18 points in the second quarter for a 29-15 advantage. Atley Jensen scored 23 points to lead the Red Hawks’ attack. Laytyn Davidson also reached double figures with 10 points.

Area Basketball Squads Returning To Action


Area basketball teams will return to action this weekend with conference contests. Culbertson will face Froid/ Lake in both boys and girls action on Friday, Jan. 2, in Culbertson. The Culbertson will then host Fairview for non-conference games on Saturday, Jan. 3. After playing Culbertson on Friday, the Froid/Lake Red Hawks will face Plentywood in Medicine Lake on Saturday, Jan. 3.

Bainville held off Terry, 4240, during non-conference girls’ basketball play in Bainville on Friday, Dec. 19. The Bulldogs led by a 31-25 margin after the third quarter and increased the margin to 34-25 on a free throw by Addison Hansen along with a steal and drive by Lila Butikofer. Terry got back into the game when consecutive three-pointers by Carmen Lacquement and Ashley Eaton closed

Baskets by Parker Berwick and Kaiden kept the Bulldogs close early, but Terry ended the first quarter with a drive by Milo Sackman and two free throws by Logan Murr for a 16-8 lead.
