Roosevelt County commissioners approved the purchase of a 10-foot Degelman Pro-Till for the road department during their weekly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Commissioner Robert Toavs explained that the equipment will help with “seasonal roads” in the county. Some of those roads are getting 6-8 inches of grass on them. Cost for the Degelman Pro-Till is $39,295 from Torgerson Equipment.

The Wolf Point Community Organization discussed several activities during its monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 19. Chairman Jason Hamilton reported that the recent elders’ meal was very well attended. Officials of the proposed Eastern Montana Fertilizer Plant received some negative news this week when the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced funding for eight fertilizer projects in the United States. The plant, scheduled to be located in the eastern part of Roosevelt County, wasn’t on the funding list. “It’s not good news,” John Mues of Cyan H2 said on Thursday, Oct. 22.

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 166 calls between Oct. 19-26. The Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board approved $7.38 million for construction of six residential buildings in Poplar during the full board meeting Oct. 13. The resolution describes the structures as duplexes, but little additional information was available at press time.
