Students Can Enter Hunting Story Contest

Gov. Greg Gianforte is holding the fourth annual Governor’s Youth Hunting Story Contest and accepting submissions from Montana youth and apprentice hunters ages 10 to 17.

“For the past three years, young hunters across Montana have shared incredible stories that celebrate our hunting heritage and love of the outdoors,” Gianforte said. “As this year’s contest opens, I encourage all youth and apprentice hunters to take part and share their story.”

To enter the contest, hunters must submit a story of no more than 500 words and a photo from their hunt. Participants must be Montana residents and licensed hunters or apprentice hunters between the ages of 10 and 17. Eligible entries include the harvest of any legal game, furbearer or bird in Montana.

The governor will select 10 winners, five in the 10-13 age group and five in the 14-17 age group. Winners will be invited to the Capitol to receive prizes and celebrate with the governor in January.

The deadline to enter is Tuesday, Dec. 2. To learn more and enter the Governor’s Youth Hunting Story Contest, visit youthhunting. mt.gov.
