4-H Council Honors Miller Oil, Wilson

The Roosevelt County 4-H Council honored Miller Oil and Tanya Wilson for their contributions prior to the livestock auction at the Roosevelt County Fair on Friday, Aug. 7.

Since 2008, the Roosevelt County 4-H Council has recognized an individual and local business for their dedication and involvement with the 4-H program.

For many people in northeastern Montana, Miller Oil represents more than a fuel supplier – it’s a multi-generational family-run business that has been part of the region’s agricultural and energy economy for more than 35 years.

Like many long-standing family businesses in rural Montana, Miller Oil has built its reputation not only through its services but also by supporting local communities through sponsorships community events, local fairs, youth organizations such as 4-H and FFA, school activities and area parades.

With this commitment, Miller Oil has become a familiar name across Sheridan, Roosevelt and surrounding counties.

Also honored was Tanya Wilson of Bainville. The 4-H program has always been a big part of her life. She started as a Clover Bud and then never slowed down. She showed steers, horses, pigs and sheep at the county fair. While working at the fairgrounds during summers, she painted, cleaned, mowed to prepare for the fair.

Once she had gone through her youth as a member, she took on being a leader for the Tumbleweed 4-H in Bainville. She instilled the like skills that 4-H teaches not only to her three children but for all of the youth in the area. Wilson’s effort is tireless, whether being on committees, helping at the fair or hosting and finding activities for meetings. She has been a leader for 19 years.
