Bulldogs Knock Off Broadus, 55-6

 

The Bainville Bulldogs stayed undefeated in league play with a 55-6 home football win over Broadus on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Bainville struck for 35 points in the first half en route to the impressive victory.

The Bulldogs started the game aggressively by recoving an on-sides kick. After a 22-yard gain by Holden Salivar on first down, Rowan Wilson connected with Parker Berwick for 12 yards to the two. From there, Wilson ran in for the first touchdown of the game.

After defensive plays by Rylan Iverson and Wilson stopped the Hawks, the Bulldogs put together a 35-yard scoring drive. Berwick made a reception and broke tackles to gain 21 yards to the 14. On third down from the six, Wilson passed to Keagan Vaira for a touchdown. Wilson hit Kaiden Holmes on the conversion for a 13-0 advantage.

Holmes then intercepted a pass and returned the ball to the Broadus 34. Wilson broke loose for a 44-yard touchdown run with 6:15 left in the first period. Wilson threw to Berwick for the conversion and a 20-0 margin Later in the quarter, a quarterback sack by Kyn Beery helped stop a drive by the Hawks. The Bulldogs then accounted for a 50-yard drive that included two passes to Beery. Bainville reached the end zone on a two-yard throw from Wilson to Vaira with 36 seconds left in the opening quarter. Austin Eveland kicked the conversion for a 28-0 lead.

The Bulldogs increased the margin to 35-0 midway into the third quarter on a three-yard run by Vaira. Wilson passed to Holmes for the conversion.

In the third quarter, the Bulldogs added a touchdown on a pass from Wilson to Salivar. Evan Anderson passed to Beery for the conversion, Later in the period, Holmes intercepted a pass and went the distance. Anderson threw to Lane Giese to put the margin at 49-0.

Ahead 49-6, Bainville added a touchdown in the fourth quarter on a pass from Wilson to Berwick.
