Lustre Team Scores Victory


The Lustre Lions won one of their two league volleyball matches last week. The Lions knocked off Brockton in a conference match on Tuesday, Sept. 6. Lustre then fell in Savage on Friday, Sept. 9. During the tournament in Scobey on Saturday, Sept. 10, the Lions dropped their opening two matches against Poplar and Wolf Point. The Lions will travel to Plentywood on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Indians Lose League Match Against Malta


Poplar lost its volleyball match against a talented Malta team, 13-25, 15-25, 22-25, on Tuesday, Sept. 6. After Malta gained a 13-5 lead in the first set, Poplar scored on a tip by Lainie Moran and a serve by Cammie Martell. Local FFA Groups To Host Competitions

Local FFA Groups To Host Competitions


For the first time in the program’s history, Poplar’s FFA will host a competition this fall. Poplar, which started a FFA program two years ago for the first time since the 1940s, will cohost a competition with Wolf Point on Monday, Oct. 10. “We have about 14 teams in the district that plan to come,” Poplar’s FFA advisor Ted Fulgham said. Lois Longtree

Lois Longtree


Lois Longtree, 74, died Wednesday Sept. 7, 2022, in Poplar. She was born Aug. 17, 1948, to Gladys Jones Lewis and Stanley Crowe in Poplar. As the oldest, she would later welcome sister Pauline Lewis and brothers Stanley Crowe IV, Curt and David Lewis. She married Dale Longtree in the 1970s. Throughout their years together, they loved and cherished their children, Stanley Paul, Carolyn, Eugene, Stacey, Matthew, Fred Crowe-Longtree. She devoted her time to helping and visiting her many relatives across the reservation, whether it was lobbying for her relatives or a friend in need at the Fort Peck Tribal Board or another community
