Poplar’s girls’ basketball squad dropped conference games against Malta and Glasgow during the weekend. Poplar’s girls’ basketball team lost to a strong Malta squad, 78-36, on Friday, Jan. 14. Malta gained a 22-4 advantage in the first quarter. The Indians closed the margin to 34-22 during the second quarter. The M-ettes then struck for 27 points in the third quarter for a 61-30 lead.

Poplar’s wrestlers put together a strong showing at the Choteau Invitational during the weekend. In the boys’ standings, the Indians scored 57 points for 18th place. Shot clocks and baseball were given approval during the Montana High School Association’s annual meeting in Butte on Monday, Jan. 17. Schools voted the addition of 35-second shot clocks for boys’ and girls’ basketball. In addition, baseball was approved as a sport for the Montana High School Association.
