Indians Run At State Meet

The Poplar Indians placed 16th in the boys standings at the Class B state cross country meet held in Kalispell on Friday, Oct. 23. Lincoln County won the state title with 63 points. Manhattan placed second with 85, Three Forks took third with 154 and Wolf Point placed fourth with 181 points. Poplar’s boys ended with 444 points. Two freshmen led Poplar’s boys at the state competition.

Join Fish Wildlife and Parks Nongame Wildlife Management bureau chief Lauri Hanauska-Brown for a Facebook Live program that is all about bats Thursday, Oct. 29, at 3:30 p.m. According to a press release, attendees will learn about the 15 species of bats that live in Montana and reasons “why we should all be grateful to have them around.” A social media post from FWP dated Oct. 26 states:

CWD Positives From Across The State, No New Areas

Earlier this month, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks was notified of 18 deer from across the state that tested positive for chronic wasting disease. The positive deer all come from areas where CWD was previously known to exist, including hunting districts in Madison, Liberty, Daniels and Gallatin counties. All but two of the deer were hunter-harvested animals. All but one were white-tailed deer. The

Toves Enjoys Growing Up In Small Community

Wolf Point High School senior Kaholo Toves appreciates everything that the school and the community offers their young people. “It’s a small community so I know everybody,” Toves said. “I have a lot of friends and family here.” He is a member of the National Honor Society and carries a 3.8 grade point average. He ranks fifth in his class. Toves said his favorite class is chemistry.
