The Bainville Bulldogs struggled against Richey/ Lambert’s defense in the second half and fell, 54-26, in sixman football action on Friday, Oct. 3. The Bulldogs enjoyed a good start as runs by Rowan Wilson and a pass play to Keagan Vaira put them in scoring position early in the first quarter. Wilson connected with Kaiden Holmes for a six-yard touchdown pass with 7:06 left in the period.

Culbertson’s Destiny Thompson has earned the Defensive Player of the Week award in volleyball by the Mon-Dak Athletic Conference. Thompson, a sophomore at Dawson Community College, accounted for 29 digs, 26 kills and four aces during the week.

Athletes from Culbertson/ Bainville enjoyed solid performances during the Glasgow Invitational meet at Fort Peck on Saturday, Oct. 4. Anna Steppler ran the course in 20:41.66 for third place in the girls’ division. Wolf Point’s Cali Gorder won the race with a time of 19:41.62. Rebekah Ellerkamp of Culbertson/ Bainville took 28th place at 24:16.72. Jade Lonebear placed 36th at 24:30.86.

The Bainville Bulldogs came away with second-place honors from a tough Richey/ Lambert volleyball tournament on Saturday, Oct. 4. Bainville posted a 3-0 record during pool play. The Bulldogs downed Alexander, N.D., 25-22, 20-20, MonDak, 25-10, 25-18 and Scobey, 25-20, 25-18. The Bulldogs then opened elimination play with a 258, 25-4 victory over Nashua. The Culbertson Cowboys broke away in the second half for a 61-34 conference football victory on Friday, Sept. 26. Ahead by only a 14-6 halftime margin, the Cowboys scored on their first possession of the second half when quarterback Brooks Solem races 23 yards for a touchdown. The Froid/Lake Red Hawks posted a straight set volleyball victory in Plentywood on Tuesday, Sept. 23. The Red Hawks earned a 25-18, 25-23, 25-10, win. Froid/Lake used kills by Joelle Davidson and Isabelle Nordwick to gain a 23-17 advantage in the first set. Plentywood stayed close at 24-18 before the Red Hawks took the set. The Bainville Bulldogs stayed undefeated in league play with a 55-6 home football win over Broadus on Saturday, Sept. 27. Bainville struck for 35 points in the first half en route to the impressive victory. The Bulldogs started the game aggressively by recoving an on-sides kick. The Froid/Lake Red Hawks almost accomplished a great comeback but lost, 32-27, during football play in Plevna on Saturday, Sept. 27. After Plevna gained a 32-18 advantage early in the fourth quarter, the Red Hawks were able to pull to 32-20 when a bad snap resulted in a safety with 2:20 remaining.
