Cowboys Win Contests Over Savage, Richey/Lambert

The Culbertson Cowboys posted a District 2C home win over Savage, 55-46, on Friday, Jan. 23.

Culbertson earned a 16-13 lead in the first quarter and moved ahead 27-22 in the second period.

The Cowboys then struck for 13 points in the third period for a 40-28 margin.

Leading Culbertson’s attack were Brooks Solem with 21 and Plenny Williams with 16 points.

Cal Steppler tallied 10 points and hit two three-pointers. Ian Snyder had six points.

Top scorers for Savage were Adrian Smelser with 15, Adden Erickson with 14 and Boden Jorgensen with 10 points.

Solem finished with five rebounds, six assists and five steals.

Snyder grabbed eight rebounds in the contest. Steppler had three assists and four steals.

Culbertson’s boys’ basketball team started strong and downed Richey/Lambert, 6755, on Saturday, Jan. 24.

The Cowboys earned a 25--13 advantage during the first quarter of action.

Culbertson increased its advantage to 39-22 in the second quarter.

Solem and Williams led Culbertson’s scoring attack with 26 points each.

Ian Snyder added nine points. Also scoring were Cal Steppler with four and Cord Snyder with two.

Top scorers for the Fusion were Curtis Mullin with 24, Beau Mullin with 13 and Trace Fulton with 12 points.

The Cowboys will travel to play Froid/Lake on Jan. 30.
