Rose “Posie” Ferguson, 65, of Poplar died Oct. 19, 2021. She was born in Poplar to George and Lois Ferguson on Oct. 9, 1956. She lived all her life in Poplar. She lived a very simple life in her apartment at the Edgewater, where she had many friends who she loved dearly. She loved doing her word search puzzles and visiting with friends and family. Her most joy in life was caring for her niece Teri Lyn’s children. She is survived by her daughters, Colleen, Crystal and Leonie; son, Murray; two grandchildren; sisters, Georgia, Sandra, Carlene, Ava, Connie, Jordis and Doreen; brothers, Jake, Billy and Leslie; and many grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jeri Lynn; and grandson, Rodrick Thomas Renz. A graveside service was held Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Poplar City Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel has entrusted with the arrangements.

Clayton Reum, “Sunkto Saba” (Black Wolf), 74, of Wolf Point died Oct. 13, 2021, at Billings Clinic in Billings. He was born July 10, 1947, along with his twin Leighton, in Poplar. He was raised in Wolf Point and schooled in Pierre and Flandreau, S.D. He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Marty, Angie, Holly and Jim; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, John; great-granddaughter, Chloe Dae Headdress; and siblings, Thelma, Alvina, Donald (Sam), Velma and Leighton. A family service was held at the Chicken Hill Cemetery on Saturday, Oct. 23. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.

Ron Ueland, 83, of Antelope died Oct. 18, 2021. He was born in Plentywood on May 28, 1938. He joined brother Kurt, mother Elna (Erickson) and father Kermit on the family farm. When he was six years old, the family moved just east of Antelope where Ron would live most of his life. He graduated from Antelope High School in 1956. He attended Montana State University - Bozeman where he received his BS degree in construction technology. He used this degree with the Montana Department of Transportation in the engineering field. He joined the U.S. Army in the fall of 1958. He was stationed in Korea where his son Dennis and grandson Curtis would later serve. While in Culbertson, he met and married Ann Oelkers. They were a fun loving couple. From dancing to darts to their children’s ballgames to playing cards, there was always something to do. He left his position in Culbertson with the highway department in the spring of 1973 and moved the family to Antelope so he could farm. In 1977, he and two others would start their own company called Prairie Sand & Gravel. He would farm and help run this company for almost 10 years. He was very proud of his John Deere shop where he restored his Ford Model T. He was involved in many community organizations. He was a volunteer fireman, assistant Boy Scout leader, member of the church council both in Culbertson and Antelope, school board member, Shriners, president of the local highway union and also a union negotiator. He also served on the Antelope Water & Sewer board and the Antelope Creek Cemetery board. He is survived by daughters, Cindy Burton of Antelope and Ginger Volker of Stevensville; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; son, Dennis; daughter, Barbie; and brother, Kurt. Services were conducted at the Plentywood Lutheran Church in Plentywood. Interment was in the Antelope Creek Cemetery.

Eliza “Babe” Lu Young, 70, of Poplar died Oct. 21, 2021, in Poplar. She was born Nov. 29, 1950, in Poplar to Elmer and Elizabeth (Lester) DeCoteau. Shea grew up in Poplar and graduated from Poplar High School in 1969. On Aug. 25, 1972, she Richard Young. They were married for 48 years until his deaht on Sept. 28, 2020. From their marriage, they had four children. She worked for the Fort Peck Tribes for 40 years doing various jobs. Of those 40 years, she worked as a payroll clerk for 29 years. After working for the Tribes, she worked as a payroll clerk and administrative assistant for Fort Peck Solutions. She enjoyed shopping and could always find a rummage sale. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She could always be counted on to attend her grandchildren’s sporting and other events. When she was younger, she loved to dance. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Dale, Emerson and Lonnie DeCoteau; and sisters, Francine and Janine DeCoteau. She is survived by her children, Richard “RJ” Young, Emerson Young, Lester Young and Elise Young; sisters, Birdie Hawk, Chrystal DeCoteau, Naomi Young and Juanita Youngman; brothers, Elmer DeCoteau, Charles “Snooky” DeCoteau and Jimmy DeCoteau; and 12 grandchildren. A wake will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, at the Poplar Cultural Center. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the Riverside Presbyterian Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.

Sigrid Olivia Petersen, 100, died Oct. 9, 2021, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Plentywood. She was born in a log house south of Dagmar Oct. 30, 1920, to Folmer and Esther (Jorgensen) Christensen. She graduated from Antelope High School and attended Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa, for one year. She met Elmer Petersen at a dance in Medicine Lake and they married in 1944. They farmed northwest of Dagmar, and she enjoyed many activities, including reading, sewing, knitting, quilting, cooking, baking and gardening. She was active in the community and church, Sunday school, Ladies Aid and she and Elmer were Luther League advisors. Following Elmer's death in 1975, she moved to Plentywood and worked in Kitzenberg's Style Shop and later at the courthouse. She enjoyed traveling with her friend Laura to Australia, New Zealand, the Panama Canal, England, Europe and New England. She moved to Pioneer Manor in 1999. She will be remembered for her positive attitude and determination to overcome setbacks and look on the bright side. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; son, Owen; daughter, Teresa; sisters, Ruth and Lois; and brothers, Jorgen and Vernon. She is survived by her son, Keith; sister, Etta; brother, Kai; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Friday, Oct. 15, at the Nathanael Lutheran Church in Dagmar with Pastor Tammy Craker officiating. Interment was at the Nathanael Lutheran Cemetery.
