Legion Ceremony Makes Most Of Fine Weather

American Legion Post 81 in Culbertson hosted a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday. The audience of local residents and service families filled the hall.
Wes Houle was the main speaker. According to Commander Christopher Peterson, who introduced him, Houle served two tours in Iraq with the U.S. Navy beginning in 2003. Houle spoke about setting and achieving personal goals through military service and about the bonds formed between service members of all generations.
After Houle spoke, Peter Olson read the names of departed area veterans aloud, a substantial list. Musical offerings were performed by Jennesy Taberna, Hunter Lee, Bella and Nash Peterson and Ivy Colvin.
Following the indoor event, a ceremony was attended by several dozen people at Hillside Cemetery, where Legion members performed a salute by firing detail.
The weather was excellent and the cemetery looked very good, thanks to Legion members and friends, who posted flags throughout.
A luncheon was served at the hall following the ceremonies.
