Changes Coming To District 2B Sports

District 2B appears in line to be increased to seven teams for basketball, volleyball and track starting in the 2025-2026 school year.

The Montana High School Association Executive Board voted to reclassify Plentywood High School from Class C to Class B during a meeting last week. The Wildcats are tentatively assigned to District 2B for basketball, volleyball and track. Plentywood will remain in the Eastern Division for eight-player football. Plentywood will compete in Class B for cross country.

In addition, Fort Benton was reclassified from Class C to Class B. Fort Benton is tentatively assigned to District 1B for basketball, volleyball and track.

The board approved Esports and girls’ flag football as emerging sports to pilot these new sports in the MHSA for two years.
