Red Hawks Defeat Thunder

The Froid/Lake Red Hawks fought off the Thunder to earn a conference volleyball win on Thursday, Oct. 23. Froid/Lake defeated MonDak by a 25-21, 25-11, 23-25, 25-16 final.

The visiting Red Hawks were behind early in the first set, but a kill by Atley Jensen and two aces by Avery Johnson closed the margin to 1917.

An ace by Jordyn Breuer and two kills by Isabelle Nordwick put Froid/Lake up 2221. With the score at 23-22, Froid/Lake finished the set on a pair of kills by Nordwick. Froid/Lake gained a 12-2 lead in the second set on the serving of Keira Stentoft and net play of Nordwick. Ahead by a 19-9 margin, the Red Hawks increased the gap to 24-9 on kills by Breuer and Jensen en route to the victory.

After the Thunder scored a 25-23 win in the third set, the Red Hawks used a kill by Jensen and aces by Johnson take an 18-11 advantage. An ace by Breuer increased the gap to 22-12.

The net play of Nordwick put the match away for the Red Hawks down the stretch.
