Cowgirls Edge Froid/Lake In League Match

In a marathon volleyball match, Culbertson edged Froid/Lake at home on Thursday, Sept. 11.

The Cowgirls won by a 25-9, 25-16, 23-25, 21-25, 22-20 final.

In the fifth and deciding set, the Red Hawks took a 14-13 lead on a kill by Isabelle Nordwick. The Cowgirls saved a match point and tied the score at 14-14 on a kill by Leandra Perkins.

A pair of kills by Emma Berwick put Culbertson ahead 16-15, but the Red Hawks fought back for a 17-16 advantage. A block by Berwick tied the score at 17-17.

Froid/Lake was able to gain a 19-18 lead on a kill and ace by Nordwick. The Cowgirls responded with two net winners by Catherine Donaldson.

A tip by Joelle Davidson pulled the Red Hawks even at 20-20, but Culbertson accounted for the last two points on a kill by Donaldson and a tip by Payton Labatte.

Berwick led the Cowgirls with 18 kills, seven aces, two assists, two blocks and 49 digs. Donaldson finished with 12 kills, seven aces, one assist, two blocks and 28 digs.

Mariana Burciaga scored 10 kills, two aces, two assists and 48 digs. Ayden Ator had two aces, two kills and 38 assists.

Perkins finished with three kills, two aces and 35 digs. Labatte had four kills, one ace, four assists and 13 digs.

Bella Petersen had seven digs. Stella Fox served an ace.
