Brockton Runners Seek To Be In Hunt At State Meet

The Brockton Warriors are looking to make noise at the state level during this cross-country season.
The girls’ team features 12 athletes including sophomore BraeLynn DeMarrias who earned All-State honors last year by placing 11th at the state meet.
Other returning letterwinners for Brockton’s girls are Tamryn Bauer, Taylor Cummins, Skylar Cummins, Marlene Fish, Jade Olney and MacKenzie Jones.
“Everybody who ran last year is running this year,” Coach Evan Cummins said.
New to the girls’ squad are senior RayKira Track, junior Reese DeCoteau, Olivia Johnson, Iva Todd and Maddie Fish.
On the boys’ side, returners include Miles Boxer Jr., who took 18th at the state meet last year. Also back are Josh Firemoon and Daniel Segubiense.
Kokipasni “Sonny” Owns Pipe is new to the program.
Coach Cummins said goals are for the girls to finish in the top three at the state meet and for the boys to move into the top 10.
“We feel like we can do it,” he said. The Warriors will open their season traveling to Wolf Point on Friday, Aug. 29, and to Poplar on Saturday, Sept. 6.
Brockton will host its first meet for many years on Friday, Sept. 19.
