Froid Council Elections Open Through June 21

The Froid Town Council held their regular meeting Monday, April 12. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

The filing period for council elections is open as of April 22, closing June 21. A mail ballot election is scheduled for November. Open positions include mayor (four year term) and two council positions with four year terms. All newly elected officials will take office in January. The council approved a request for a portable food vending trailer to set up in any area zoned appropriately.

Minutes were passed for the March 8 meeting.

During the public works report, mayor Sheri Crain told the council that a new battery for the tractor has been ordered through Case IH. She also said a several street signs have been ordered.

Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office deputy Russ Corbell was on hand to share that it has been quiet in town. There was only one stop along the highway during the previous month. Some damage to a garbage receptacle was reported at a private residence. It was not known who caused the damage.

A resolution was passed requesting distribution of BaRSAA funds. The amount requested, not counting matching funds, was $11,032.18.

Proposed annexation resolutions remain under review by Laura Christoffersen’s office. A public hearing will be scheduled.

Delinquent water, sewer and garbage accounts were reviewed. Letters will be sent out and follow-up phone calls are planned.

Payroll and claims were approved. The next regular meeting is set for May 10.
