Culbertson’s girls’ basketball squad earned a 50-20 conference victory in Fairview on Friday, Dec. 16. The Cowgirls gained a 14-4 advantage in the first quarter. Destiny Thompson and Makena Hauge each scored four points in the period. Culbertson added 10 points in the second period for a 24-5 lead. A three-pointer by Hauge highlighted the quarter. Culbertson’s boys’ basketball squad put up a good fight before losing to a strong Lustre Christian team, 54-41, in Culbertson on Saturday, Dec. 17. The undefeated Lions gained a 12-7 during the first quarter of action. The Cowboys responded with 13 points in the second period to cut the margin to 22-20 at the half. Lustre accounted for 18 points in the third quarter to earn a 40-30 advantage.

The Culbertson Cowgirls knocked off Lustre Christian by a 63-25 final in non-conference action in Culbertson on Saturday, Dec. 17. Culbertson gained a 17-3 lead during the first quarter. The Montana High School Association has recently announced the 2022-2023 service year award list for officials who are members of the Montana Officials Association. Dean Nelson of Homestead was honored for 35 years of service. Area officials recognized for 30 years of service were Jeanna Adkins of Bainville, Mike Dryden of Glendive and Myron Malnaa of Glasgow.
