Fire Burns 1,500 Acre Near Fort Kipp

Roosevelt County Fire Marshal Mike Olson told the Northern Plains Independent that multiple agencies were dispatched to fight fires burning south of U.S. Highway 2 near Fort Kipp Friday, Sept. 1. He said multiple structures were threatened, but nobody was hurt. “ The call came in at 3:49 p.m. on Friday,” said Olson. “It was paged out as multiple fires along BIA Route 1.” Olson said

Irwin Retires From Highway Patrol

Lt. Lawrence Irwin retired from the Montana Highway Patrol on May 31, after 31 and a half years of service to the Patrol. His initial station assignment was Wolf Point. He was promoted to sergeant on Jan. 29, 2000, and was the Wolf Point detachment commander. In April of 2002, he transferred to Helena to work on the executive protection detail. He transferred to the Helena Detachment commander
