In the first game under new head coach Lance Berndt, Bainville’s girls’ basketball team posted a 51-29 win over Plevna during the tip-off tournament in Glasgow on Friday, Dec. 1.

The Bulldogs held a 16-9 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Plevna closed the gap to 16-14 on a three-pointer by Brylee Swarts and two free throws by Emma Thielen to open the second quarter.

Ahead by a 20-17 margin, the Bulldogs struck on a basket by Chandi Johnson off a pass by Kendra Romo and a 15-footer by Kendra Romo.

The Bulldogs scored the last four points of the half on drives by Lila Butikofer and Kaelyn Romo for a 28-18 advantage.

Bainville ran off nine straight points during a stretch in the third quarter to increase its lead to 39-20. Scoring during the streak were Addison Hansen, Lila Butikofer, Kendra Romo, Johnson and Miah Pippenger.

The Bulldogs led 39-21 at the end of the third quarter en route to a 51-29 victory.

Bainville opened the contest with the first 12 points as Kaelyn Romo scored four of the points. Bainville held a 16-2 lead, but Plevna scored the last seven points of the first quarter.

Leading the Bulldogs with 12 points each were Kaelyn Romo and Hansen.

Also scoring for Bainville were Kendra Romo with seven, Butikofer with six, Pippenger with six, Johnna Ryder with four and Johnson with four.
