Bainville Falls To Plevna
Playing short-handed, Bainville’s boys’ basketball squad put up a good fight but lost to Plevna, 59-37, on Friday, Dec. 1.
The Bulldogs fell behind by a 14-7 margin in the first quarter and trailed by a 21-9 score, but Bainville responded with consecutive three-pointers by Cayden Boyd and Rowan Wilson.
A 14-footer by Boyd kept Bainville close at 28-17, but the Cougars held a 30-17 halftime advantage.
Plevna outscored the Bulldogs by a 16-8 margin in the third quarter. Highlights for Bainville in the period included a three-point play by Reed Winn and a three-point shot by Carter Winn.
Wilson and Trevor Robertus hit on three-pointers in the fourth quarter, but Bainville lost by a 59-37 final.
Boyd led the Bulldogs with nine points.
Scoring six points each for Bainville were Carter Winn, Robertus and Wilson. Rounding out Bainville’s scoring were R. Winn with five, Isaiah Bjorge with three and Carter Pacovsky with two points.
