The Poplar Indians lost an away match against a strong Malta M’ettes’ volleyball team on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Braelyn Nordwick scored six kills for the Indians. Rebecca Gorder finished with 16 assists. Miley Crawford had four blocks. Lilliana O’Neal and Nordwick served aces. Nina Escarcega finished with 14 digs.

Runners from Wolf Point, Poplar, Brockton and Frazer turned out strong performances at the Frazer Invitational held on Thursday, Sept. 26. Poplar took fourth place and Brockton earned fifth in the team standings. Harlem topped the field with nine points. Harlem’s Ethan Walker finished in first place with a time of 16:41.05. Wolf Point’s Rebel Mays finished fourth with a time of 18:21.61.

Girls’ athletes, including those from the area, excelled during the Frazer Invitational cross country meet on Thursday, Sept. 26. The Wolf Point Wolves and Poplar Indians each competed at the state girls’ flag football tournament held in Bozeman on Thursday, Sept. 26, and Friday, Sept. 27. The Indians opened play with a 22-14 victory over Butte on Thursday. Poplar then lost to a strong Lockwood squad, 27-14, in the quarter-final round on Friday. The Indians gained an 8-6 lead in the game but trailed 15-8 at the half.
