Flag Football Team Wins Game At State Tourney
Wolf Point started its action at the state girls’ flag football tournament with a 39-12 victory over Hays-Lodgepole.
The Wolves scored two touchdowns in the opening quarter on a 20-yard run by Cadence Boudin and a 37yard dash on a reverse play by Adalyn Smith.
Wolf Point increased its lead to 19-0 on a 24-yard pass play when Ma’Kenzie Jackson caught a tipped pass from Maci Four Star-Sibley.
The Wolves scored another touchdown in the second period on a 36-yard play involving Four Star-Sibley and Teagan Williams. Anna Matejovsky passed to Jackson for the conversion.
In the second half, Four Star-Sibley connected with Matejovsky for a 23-yard touchdown strike to put the margin at 33-0.
Four Star-Sibley made a couple of nice moves and scored on a 31-yard run in the fourth quarter for a 39-6 lead.
Wolf Point then lost a heart-breaker in the semi-final round against Three Forks, 19-13, in double overtime.
Wolf Point scored on its first offensive play when Smith broke loose and raced down the sideline for a 66-yard touchdown. Four Star-Sibley passed to Matejovsky for the conversion and a 7-0 lead.
For the first three quarters, Wolf Point’s defense held Three Forks scoreless. Defensive highlights included an interception by Four Star-Sibley and a quarterback hurry by Teagan Williams.
Three Forks, however, struck on the first play of the fourth quarter on a long pass play. A pass conversion tied the game at 7-7 with 9:36 remaining.
Three Forks’ final possession of regulation ended with an interception by Jackson near the Wolf Point goal-line.
In the first overtime period, Three Forks reached the end zone on a running play but failed on the conversion.
Wolf Point tied the game on a fourth-down run from the one by Matejovsky. Wolf Point’s pass attempt on the conversion failed.
Three Forks intercepted a pass to end Wolf Point’s possession in the second overtime period.
Three Forks was able to score on a third-down dash from the two to capture the victory.
Poplar lost its first-round game against Hobson by a 1918 final.
