After Brockton defeated Savage, 72-43, in the District 2C boys’ basketball game on Saturday, several players immediately jumped on top of Coach John Nygard to celebrate. Lustre’s girls’ basketball team placed fourth at the District 3C tournament in Glasgow. The Lions fell to North Country, 56-26, on Saturday in the third-place game. North Country jumped out to an 18-5 lead in the first quarter and held a 24-7 halftime advantage. The Mavericks increased the margin to 43-12 in the third quarter. The Wolf Point Wolves and Poplar Indians each had an individual girls’ champion at the Eastern B/C divisional wrestling meet in Malta during the weekend. Wolf Point’s eighth-grader Cali Gorder won the divisional championship at 100 pounds. Poplar’s Alara Cooper won the title at 115 pounds.
