The Froid/Lake Red Hawks saw plenty of action during the first weekend of the volleyball season. In a five-set battle, the Red Hawks lost at home against Plentywood by a 16-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21, 13-15, final on Friday, Aug. 30. The Bainville Bulldogs opened their volleyball campaign at the Broadus Invitational in Glendive on Saturday, Aug. 31. During pool play, the Bulldogs won two of their four matches. Fisheries management of northeast Montana’s ponds and small reservoirs can be a challenge. Habitat limitations, excess nutrient input from multi-use practices, and extreme winter and summer conditions can all negatively impact these biologically and recreationally important fisheries. In addition to these challenges, illegal fish introductions are a pervasive issue that further complicate management.
