Anglers will have multiple opportunities in the coming months to weigh in on a variety of proposals affecting fishing and recreation management for Montana’s fisheries. Two efforts look at fishing regulations and fisheries management statewide, while two others involve the Madison River specifically. These four processes will each have distinct timeframes and opportunities for public comment.

KayJay First That Walk of Brockton has been selected to serve on the Montana High School Association’s student advisory council. First That Walk plays basketball for the Warriors. She is also involved in cultural activities such as powwows and ceremonies. She is entering her junior year in high school. The Fort Peck Community College’s Chante’ project announces that it will hold a color race on Thursday, Aug. 4. The event will start at 5 p.m. at the Wolf Point High School’s football field. Shirts will be available for the first 100 participants. Prizes will be raffled off. The goal of the run is to get as many youth and family members as possible involved in an end of the summer

Area players gained more insight about basketball when Ro Wiggins of GROw Training held camps at Frontier Elementary School and Poplar last week. Wiggins competed in the sport at the junior college level in Wyoming and then for a Division III school in Texas. He has conducted camps for the last five years and has reached 16 states. The Montana High School Association’s executive board made several decisions during a meeting on June 22. The board awarded the 2023 Class C state golf tournament to Anaconda Hills Golf Course in Great Falls for May 15-17.
