Wolves Finish With Perfect League Record

 

Wolf Point’s boys’ basketball squad finished its league schedule with a perfect 8-0 record by downing Harlem, 65-54, on Saturday, Feb. 4.

The Wolves experienced a slow start in Harlem as they trailed 19-14 at the end of the first quarter and were ahead by only a 29-26 half-time margin. The Wolves then took control in the third quarter as Kraven Silk and Gaige Bushman opened the period with a drive and three-pointer.

Consecutive three-pointers by Juliun Benson and Kelby Bauer increased Wolf Point’s advantage to 40-28.

Wolf Point kept rolling as Benson connected from the baseline, Jack Kolstad hit a short jumper and Benson scored on a tip-in for a 46-28 lead. Another basket by Benson put the margin at 48-28.

Baskets by Cade Stafne and Peyton Summers helped the Wolves gain a comfortable 52-35 lead at the end of third quarter.

Benson led the Wolves with 22 points. Bushman finished with nine and Summers had eight points. Silk and Kolstad added seven points each. Also scoring were Stafne with four, Lennoxx Lilley with four, Bauer with three and Mike Bell with one point.

Top scorers for Harlem were Matt Billmayer with 16 points and Terrance Messerly with 11 points.

The Wolves will travel to Glendive on Thursday, Feb. 9, and host Scobey on Saturday, Feb. 11.
