Froid/Lake opened play at the District 2C boys’ basketball tournament with a 63-22 quarter-final victory over MonDak on Thursday, Feb. 17. The Red Hawks jumped out to a 22-5 lead in the first quarter and held a 32-15 halftime advantage. Froid/Lake increased the gap to 47-21 in the third quarter and then outscored the Thunder, 16-1, in the final period. Top scorers for the Red Hawks

The Bainville Bulldogs enjoyed a strong second quarter and defeated Culbertson, 53-39, for a road conference win on Saturday, Feb. 12. After trailing 11-8 at the end of the first quarter, the Bulldogs outscored Culbertson 15-4 in the second period for a 23-15 half-time lead. Bainville held a 35-27 advantage after three quarters of play. Ayden Knudsen finished with 21 points to lead Bainville.

The Culbertson Cowboys lost a heart-breaker in the first round of the District 2C basketball tournament when MonDak’s Erik Field hit a 30-footer at the buzzer to give the Thunder a 47-44 victory on Monday, Feb. 14.
