Playground Well Received At Park
The Wolf Point Lions Club and community members could certainly see their investment in a new playground at paid off this summer.
“It’s been used a ton,” Wolf Point’s recreation director Dan Horsmon said.
He noted the entire playground was utilized a good amount, but especially the middle area, this summer.
“Everything is painted there and it really looks nice,” Horsmon said.
Frontier School To Begin Modified Schedule
A change at Frontier School starting Aug. 16 is the move to a modified class schedule. Classes will be held mainly four days a week, with classes on one Friday a month.
“For our people, it will be an adjustment,” Frontier superintendent Patrick Drapeau said. “It’s stepping into new waters, but people are excited about it.”
The school day will run from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Drapeau
DES Reminds To Be Prepared For Storms
The strong wind storm that hit Wolf Point and other parts of the area on Sunday, July 30, created its share of property damage including bringing down power lines and trees. Although some residents were without power for more than 24 hours, Roosevelt County can be thankful that it wasn’t a true emergency situation. Hay Stack Fire
Area fire departments were called to large stack of hay on fire at Doug Long’s Friday evening, Aug. 11. The hay was lost likely due to a wet bale that was unnoticed. The stack was located just west of the water treatment plant east of Wolf Point. A stack of that size can vary between $10,000 to $20,000 which can be a harsh blow to a winter season of feeding animals. Roughly 250 bales were lost
Stop In Culbertson
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office was successful in detaining two suspects in Culbertson on Saturday, Aug. 12. Roosevelt County received a call to assist another agency at 6:41 a.m. when Sheridan County reported that a vehicle took off without approval from the port of entry. The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office stopped the vehicle pulling a trailer at about 7:15 a.m. at Val Am in Culbertson.
