Red Hawks Lose Home Match
The Froid/Lake Red Hawks dropped their home match against Savage during District 2C volleyball action on Friday, Oct. 24. Savage won by a 25-16, 25-15, 25-23, margin.
In the first set, the Warriors jumped out to an 18-9 advantage.
With the score at 23-16, Savage ended the set on kills by Mylee Reuter and Matilda Verhasselt.
A block by Froid/Lake’s Isabelle Nordwick pulled the Red Hawks to 12-10 in the second set. After Savage struck for five straight points, Nordwick slammed down a kill to cut the gap to 17-11.
The Warriors were able to increase their lead to 22-14 on kills by Miley Pilgeram.
The Red Hawks scored on a spike by Avery Johnson, but the Warriors went on to win the set, 25-15, on a kill by Reuter.
Froid/Lake enjoyed a solid start in the third set as the serving of Jordyn Breuer and net play of Nordwick led the way to a 7-4 lead. Johnson served an ace to put the Red Hawks ahead 12-6.
Blocks by Aspen Peterson and KD Lyons helped the Warriors grab an 18-16 lead. The Red Hawks pulled even again on kills by Nordwick and Breuer.
After Savage gained a 2321 advantage on kills by Verhasselt, a tip by Alley Jensen helped Froid/Lake tie the score at 23-23.
The Warriors tallied the final two points including a kill by Verhasselt.
