Bulldogs Score Victory At Terry
A big fourth quarter lifted Bainville over Terry, 45-32, in a key six-man football conference game on Saturday, Oct. 18.
The visiting Bulldogs trailed by a 24-12 margin in the second quarter, but Bainville pulled to 24-18 on a touchdown pass from Rowan Wilson to Parker Berwick.
On Terry’s next possession, Wilson intercepted a pass and took the ball down to the Terry eight. On second down from the seven, Wilson scrambled and raced into the end zone. The senior quarterback threw to Berwick for the conversion and a 25-24 lead.
Both squads played well defensively throughout the third quarter and the score remained at 25-24. A highlight for the Bulldogs was Wilson making an outstanding catch off a tipped pass for an interception. On another series, a third-down play by Terry was stopped by Kyn Beery, Evan Anderson and Berwick to force a punt.
The Terriers drove to midfield early in the fourth period, but a deep pass was intercepted by Wilson and returned to the Terry 21.
Facing a second down from the 16, Wilson broke loose for another touchdown. Wilson connected with Anderson for the conversion to put the score at 32-24.
Bainville’s defense stepped up on Terry’s next possession as a tackle for loss by Berwick and a quarterback sack by Kaston Hofer forced a punt. Taking over at the Terry 25 after a short pass in the windy conditions, the Bulldogs picked up a first down at the three on a pass from Wilson to Anderson. On second down from the one, Wilson hit Beery with a touchdown pass. A throw to Anderson on the conversion was good for a 39-24 advantage.
Terry, however, kept the heat on when Landen Schilling returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown to close the margin to 3932.
The Bulldogs responded with a 46-yard scoring drive that included a fourth-down pass from Wilson to Anderson that covered 12 yards for a first down. Bainville reached the end zone on a 21-yard pass from Wilson to Berwick for a 45-32 lead late in the fourth quarter.
Bainville can clinch a playoff berth when the Bulldogs host Savage on Saturday, Oct 25.
