Bainville Suffers Loss Against Fusion
The Bainville Bulldogs struggled against Richey/ Lambert’s defense in the second half and fell, 54-26, in sixman football action on Friday, Oct. 3.
The Bulldogs enjoyed a good start as runs by Rowan Wilson and a pass play to Keagan Vaira put them in scoring position early in the first quarter. Wilson connected with Kaiden Holmes for a six-yard touchdown pass with 7:06 left in the period.
After the Fusion reached the end zone on a 31-yard dash by Curtis Mullin, the Buldogs regained the lead on a 22-yard throw from Wilson to Parker Berwick. Wilson also hit Berwick for the conversion and a 13-6 advantage.
Richey/Lambert recovered a fumble and went on to score on a three-yard run by C. Mullin. Beau Mullin kicked the conversion for a 14-13 lead.
Late in the second quarter, the Fusion added to their lead on a 21-yard run by C. Mullin with 46 seconds left in the half.
The Bulldogs, however, ended the half on a high note when Wilson found a wide open Holmes for a 29-yard pass play for a touchdown to tie the game, 20-20, at the half.
The score remained deadlock until C. Mullin scored on a 43-yard run with 1:37 left in the third quarter. The kick by B. Mullin put the score at 28-20.
On the first play of the fourth period, the Fusion reached the end zone on a 33yard dash by C. Mullin.
After the Fusion stopped the Bulldogs from scoring inside the five, Richey/Lambert increased its lead to 42-20 on a 28-yard run by C. Mullin with 5:28 remaining.
Richey/Lambert’s next score came on a two-yard run by Quaid Marshall with 4:15 left to put the margin at 48-20.
A great run after a catch by Holmes resulted in a 66-yard scoring play for the Bulldogs.
The Fusion added a touchdown on a five-yard run by Marshall for a 54-26 final.
