Froid/Lake Prepares To Battle In Six-Man Football Conference

The Froid/Lake Red Hawks are set to improve after going through a struggling season a year ago.
“We are young, but we are always working hard to improve,” Coach Michael Reiter said.
Returning starters for the Red Hawks are junior Rylan Young at quarterback and safety, junior Eddie Orozco at running back and linebacker and junior Teegan Fossum at offensive end and defensive end.
Former starters Cody Olson and Owen Logan return after missing last season with injuries.
Sophomore Carsen Kelm saw a good amount of playing time at running back and linebacker last season.
Reiter, who is assisted by Issac Johnson, feels gaining additional experience is invaluable for the team. “We make the most of our practice reps, now we need to make the most of our game reps,” Reiter said. “We also need to work on our response to adversity.”
Goals for the season include improving off of last year. He said working hard is the key to achieving goals. During a practice last week featuring conditioning drills, Reiter yelled to his players, “Be disciplined and push yourselves. It’s not supposed to be fun. Know what’s fun? Winning. No one is going to outwork us.”
The coach sees Jordan and Terry as the pre-season favorites in the conference.
“With four playoff teams coming out of the East this year, our entire conference will have exciting games all year long,” Reiter said. “This will be an extremely fun season for six-man football.”
