Froid Council Approves Cell Tower Upgrade
The Froid Town Council held its regular meeting July 14. A broken lift station pump was reported and discussed. A replacement is being ordered, with the possible purchase of a rebuilt or used pump.
It was reported that a Department of Environmental Quality “sludge judge” will arrive to test the town’s lagoon. More information is expected at the August council meeting.
Council members reviewed delinquent accounts. A list of four properties are being sent to the Roosevelt County treasurer for tax liens to recoup unpaid bills.
The 2021 town audit was discussed. At press time July 21, the audit had been received at the town office. The report showed no findings of nonconformities or significant deficiencies.
A proposed Nemont cell tower replacement was approved by the council. The new tower will be in approximately the same location of the old tower, but it will be 80feet taller. The council requested an engineering report for the project. The work is expected to take place in August and September.
The old town playground on Main Street has been put up for sealed bid. The bids for the small parcel will be opened at the August meeting.
One call for service was reported on the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office’s monthly report.
Public works director Alan Engelke reported county crews sprayed the town lagoon.
The next regular council meeting is set for Aug. 11. There will also be a budget hearing scheduled later in the month.
