Culbertson Enjoys Success At Opening Meet

Culbertson opened its track season at a small meet in Sidney on Tuesday, April 2.

The Cowboys accounted for 80 points to earn third place at the six-team meet. The top two boys’ teams were Sidney with 206 and Fairview with 106 points.

Bridger Salvevold led the Cowboys by finishing first in the 200-meter dash at 24.72 seconds and second in the 100 at 11.89 seconds.

Also placing in the 100 were Reese Moon in fourth at 12.15 and Ian Snyder in fifth at 12.25.

Freshman Plenny Williams enjoyed a strong opening meet with a first in the discus at 129-10 and fourth in the javelin at 126-1.

Brooks Solem, also a freshman, earned third in the javelin at 133-3, third in the 300-meter hurdles at 52.11, third in the long jump at 18-9 and third in the high jump by clearing 5-6.

Aden Drake took fifth in the 300-meter hurdles at 53.07. Moon placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 18-3.

Nyreece Halvorson, a senior, placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 38-11 and fourth in the discus at 111-0. Chris Chilson ran the 1600 in 3:39.43 for sixth place.

The 400-meter relay team consisting of Moon, Snyder, Harrison Green and Salvevold finished second with a time of 46.51 seconds.

The Cowgirls took fifth place with 34 points. Fairview topped the standings with 136 points.

Destiny Thompson captured top honors in the javelin with a best of 95-5.

Emma Berwick, a freshman, placed second in the discus at 87-4.

Placing fourth were Ivy Colvin with a time of 71.67 in the 400 and Payton Labatte at 22.5 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles.

The 400-meter relay team featuring Colvin, Stella Fox, Rebekah Ellerkamp and Bella Peterson placed fifth at 63.14 seconds.

Rebekah Ellerkamp finished fifth in the 1600 at 7:15.78 and sixth in the 800 at 3.20.76. Peterson took sixth in the 200 with a time of 31.91 seconds.
