Culbertson Council Backs Teen Support Group

The Culbertson Town Council held its regular meeting Monday, March 11. Steve and Shelley Baldwin were present in the audience, as were Lary Pearson and Ian Walker. No public comment was offered.

The council received an update on construction at Big Sky Field. The project has been put out for a redesign and another round of bids.

A proposed boat ramp at the north bank of the Missouri River near the Culbertson Bridge was on the agenda, but nobody from the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks was at the meeting.

The Shriner property on the east end of Culbertson was approved for subdivision. The matter now rests with the Roosevelt County planner, who will split the hotel, shop and storage buildings into separate lots.

The council approved a teen peer support group from Roosevelt Medical Center for use of the town building for meeting purposes. The group will meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Contact Amy Harling or Nick Kallem.

Upgrades to the town’s water tank were discussed. A preliminary engineering report will be ordered to assess the need for repairs and improvements.

Town staff was approved by the council to move, disposes of, or repurpose the Itron utilities scanning equipment stored in the office.

The council discussed the application of fees to nonresidents for use of the pool. They also discussed employing a method for counting attendees at the pool more accurately.

The current interlocal law enforcement agreement was reviewed for possible changes and additions.

House Bill 355 projects were discussed. The town will utilize funds from the bill to replace windows at the town hall, including a slider near the kitchen.

The council again decided not to send dues to the U.S. Highway 2 Association.

The next regular council meeting is set for April 8 at 6:30 p.m.
