Elvsaas Displays Ability In Academics, Activities
Froid Senior Profile
Froid High School senior Macie Elvsaas has gained the most out of her high school experience by doing well both in the classroom and in various activities.
As far as academics, Elvsaas carries a grade point average that ranks her second in her class. Not only that, she has completed several dual-credit college courses through Miles Community College and Montana State University Northern.
She says her favorite class has definitely been criminology.
“It really clicked for me and taught me that you become the people you surround yourself with, which helped solidify my dream of working in the legal field,” she explained.
Her favorite teacher is Heather Mason. “She has been so much more that just a teacher to me. She was my ‘unpaid therapist’ and my biggest support system. She always knew exactly what to say to keep me positive and helped me find my feet whenever I felt wobbly.”
Another accomplishment for Elvsaas has been earning her Red Cross CPR certification.
Her list of activities include cheer, FFA, band, choir, speech and drama along with Explore America.
“Cheer was my favorite because of the bond with my teammates and the energy of the tournaments,” Elvsaas said. “It taught me how to show up and keep pushing forward even when things get tough.”
She enjoyed the sports tournaments in Sidney, learning how to perform suspended splits in cheer and the “Sink it No. 24” moment.”
After high school, she will move to South Dakota and attend the University of South Dakota. Plans are to pursue a major in criminal justice and a minor in psychology. Her goal is to become a criminal defense at-Macie torney.
