Red Hawks Take Third Place At Tourney

Froid/Lake’s boys’ basketball squad earned third place at the District 2C tournament in Sidney with a 42-36 victory over Savage on Saturday, Feb. 17.

After leading by a 13-12 margin at the end of the opening quarter, the Red Hawks struck for 15 points in the second period for a 28-21 half-time lead. Mason Dethman scored seven points for the Red Hawks in the second period.

Froid/Lake held a 35-29 advantage after three quarters of play. The Red Hawks led by as many as 10 points in the quarter.

Dethman accounted for all of the team’s seven points in the final period for the 42-36 victory.

Dethman finished with 26 points and eight rebounds.

Also scoring for the Red Hawks were Landon Kelm with five, Joseph Robertson with five, Nate Stentoft with four and Daniel Forizs with two points.

Stentoft led the Red Hawks with five assists.

Savage’s top scorers were Cade Tombre with 10 and Sayer Erickson with eight points.

Connor Lyons grabbed 13 rebounds for the Warriors.
