Bainville bounced back with a strong third quarter comeback, but the Bulldogs fell to Plentywood, 43-34, in the District 2C girls’ basketball title game on Saturday, Feb. 17.

The Bulldogs trailed 23-11 at the half before scoring the first four points of the third quarter on two free throws by Elsie Wilson and a basket off a rebound by Tally Berwick.

Down by a 25-15 margin, Bainville struck back on a pair of free throws by Hailey Berwick and a 14-footer by Miah Pippenger.

Bainville accounted for the last five points of the third quarter on a three-pointer by M. Pippenger and two free throws by Brecklyn Pippenger to trail by only a 2724 margin at the end of the quarter.

B. Pippenger drove in for a hoop to pull the Bulldogs to 27-26 early in the fourth period.

Plentywood responded with the next seven points including a three-pointer by Paityn Curtiss for a 34-26 advantage.

Wilson scored with 3:12 remaining, but another three-pointer by Curtiss helped the Wildcats gain a 40-28 lead with only a minute to play.

Wilson led the Bulldogs with 10 points. B. Pippenger and H. Berwick scored seven points each. Also scoring were M. Pippenger with five, T. Berwick with two, Lila Butikofer with two and Addison Hansen with one point.

T. Berwick grabbed 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Mallory Tommerup scored 25 points for the Wildcats. She was eight for nine from the foul stripe.

Curtiss finished with 14 points and seven rebounds.
