Froid/Lake Drops Opening Match At Eastern C Divisional Tournament


The Froid/Lake volleyball squad lost to a strong Broadus team in the first round of the Eastern C divisional tournament on Thursday, Nov. 2.
In the first set, the Red Hawks stayed close as kills by Jaeleigh Davidson and Isabelle Nordwick highlighted play. A kill by Mara Salvevold pulled Froid/Lake even at 10--10.
Broadus then struck for the set’s next six points before Davidson accounted for another kill. With the Hawks up by a 20-14 margin, Froid/ Lake fought back to 21-18 on a kill by I. Nordwick, serves by Avery Johnson and a kill by Salvevold.
A kill by I. Nordwick put the score at 23-19, but Broadus tallied the last two points.
The net play of Salvevold and I. Nordwick were highlights for the Red Hawks early in the second set. Broadus pulled away from a 16-10 score to take a 22-12 advantage. The Hawks won the set by a 25-13 margin.
The strong serving of Davidson and Addison Elvsaas closed the margin to 12-6 in the third set. Salvevold connected for a kill to keep the Red Hawks close at 14-8.
After Broadus gained an 1810 lead, the Red Hawks struck back on a serve by Salvevold and a kill by L. Johnson. Froid/Lake fought back to 2115 on a kill by Davidson and a serve by Elvsaas.
A kill by Davidson keep Froid/Lake close at 23-17, but Broadus won the match at 2518.
