Brockton High School Celebrates Eight Grads Brockton High School Celebrates Eight Grads

Brockton High School celebrated their 2022 graduates during a ceremony in the school gym Friday, May 13. The event began at 6 p.m. Attendance was high, with close relatives of the graduates seated on the floor in front of the stage.

Eight graduates were honored, including Jonathan Bender, Jaidyn Edmisten, Spirit Feather, Ethan Longtree, Ziktcana Roberts, Rita Track, Jewell Youpee and Bayzel Alexander.

Bender was named class valedictorian. He spoke to the attendees after an introduction by Brockton School District superintendent Josh Patterson and a short talk from featured speaker Martel C. Reum. Reum spoke about personal struggles with addiction and recovery and discussed family impacts of intergenerational trauma.

A slide show featuring graduating seniors was presented by teacher Jennifer Ruba.

Graduates offered flowers to close relatives and friends in the audience and tassels were turned, marking the transition from candidates to graduates.

The 2022 class motto was a Dakota Indian proverb: ā€œWe will be known forever by the tracks we leave.ā€ The class flower was a rose and class colors-were black, white and silver.

Graduates formed a reception line following the event for friends and family to greet and congratulate them on their achievements.
