Froid/Lake Wins Title In Culbertson

The Froid/Lake Red Hawks captured first place at the Culbertson Invitational in the opening weekend of the volleyball season on Saturday, Sept. 4. “I was pretty happy with our offense,” Coach Kiah Smith said. “Our hitting really come on toward the end of the tournament.”

The Red Hawks opened pool play with a straight set victory over Bainville.

Against Nashua in the next match, the Red Hawks earned a 16-14, 15-10 victory. In the first set, kills by Carolyne Christoffersen and Dasani Nesbit accounted for the last two points in the 1614 win. In the second set, the Red Hawks pulled away with a 15-10 victory with a kill by Nesbit and a serve by Aleah Johnson ending the match.

The Red Hawks split sets against Scobey’s JVs, 13-15, 156, in the last pool play match. Christoffersen served two aces to end the second set.

As the top seed of the B Pool, the Red Hawks opened tournament play against Lustre Christian. The Red Hawks won the match 25-6, 25-5.

The Red Hawks then knocked off Savage, 25-13, 25- 21, in the semi-final round.

Froid/Lake downed Scobey 25-20, 18-25, 15-11, in the championship match.
