Bainville Posts Victory Over North Star To Begin Football Campaign

Bainville’s footbal team got its season off on the right track as the Bulldogs outscored North Star, 53-46, on the road on Saturday, Aug. 28.

“These boys finally getting their win is a huge confidence boost,” Bainville Coach Trustin Holcomb said.

The Bulldogs led 16-12 after the first quarter and 40-33 at the half.

After a 47-45 score after the third quarter, the Bulldogs scored the game’s final touchdown on a 46-yard pass play from Jesse Strickland to Connor Wade.

Strickland finished the contest with 130 yards rushing and 180 yards passing.

“Jesse played great,” Holcomb said. Wade finished with 125 yards receiving and 17 tackles. Other leaders in tacklers were Strickland with 16 and Logan Josephson with 10.

The Bulldogs scored the game’s first touchdown on a 14-yard dash by Braeden Romo. Charles Butikofer scored on a four-yard run and kicked the conversion later in the quarter.

Bainville’s first score of the second quarter came on a two-yard pass from Strickland to Adrian Anderson. The Bulldogs next scored on a 20-yard competition from Strickland to Wade.

Strickland accounted for the last two touchdowns of the half on a 56-yard kickoff return and a one-yard run.

Bainville’s only touchdown of the third quarter was scored by Strickland on a seven-yard dash.

The Bulldogs will play at home against Box Elder starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11.
