The Culbertson Women’s Club will host a pool fundraiser on Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 5-8 p.m. at the Culbertson Pool. There will be a freewill offering hot dog meal along with an opportunity to toss water balloons at a few local celebrities for a nominal fee.

Ice cream will be provided by the Wild West Diner to top it all off. Open swim will be available free of charge to those who wish to cool off.

The Women’s Club is currently working with the Town of Culbertson to raise funds for the replacement of the bathhouse at the Culbertson Swimming Pool. To date, the club has raised $127,000 toward this project by holding outdoor carnivals, fun runs, food stands and many other events. These fundraising efforts are on-going. The goal is to raise a total of $250,000 in order to apply for a matching grant from the Montana Land and Water Conservation Fund.

The present bathhouse is 50 years old and is not ADA compliant. Further, the changing rooms are openair causing an accelerated rate of deterioration and also prevents spending money on attempts to improve the existing facility. The pool is used by several communities and many rural residents who live in the surrounding areas for recreation, swimming lessons and adult aerobics. Activities at the pool are a healthy alternative for area youth and adults. The swimming lessons and lifesaving training at the pool provide important life skills. Having a pool in a small rural community greatly improves the quality of life for all residents.

The Culbertson, Women’s Club is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to community improvements through volunteerism. For decades, the club has been a huge part of community enhancement and would appreciate your help in this project. Donations can be made the night of the event, mailed to Culbertson Women’s Club at P.O. Box 106, Culbertson, MT., dropped off at the Culbertson Town Hall or contacting Ashley Anderson, Lanette Bidegaray, or DeAnne Weeks.

When the funding goal is reached, the project engineers will advertise for contractor bids and conduct construction inspection until the project is completed.
