Cowgirls Battle Through Tournament Play
Both the varsity and junior varsity girls put together strong showings during tournament action, with the two squads even finding themselves across the net from one another along the way.
The JV team entered tournament play seeded third, while the varsity squad finished pool play tied for first. After the tiebreaker, the varsity entered bracket play as the second seed.
The tournament eventually brought the two teams together, giving the girls the unusual opportunity to compete against their own teammates for a chance to keep moving through the bracket. The varsity squad came out on top and advanced to face Savage with a trip to the championship match on the line.
That match came down to the final few points.
The varsity girls battled Savage in a close contest before falling 25-23, narrowly missing their opportunity to advance to the championship.
Savage went on to win the tournament, while Fairview finished second.
Although the day did not end with a championship appearance, both squads gained valuable tournament experience, with the JV team’s third-place position entering bracket play and the varsity team’s run to within two points of the championship highlighting a competitive day on the court.
