Northern Rodeo Association competitions were held in Culbertson and Poplar during the weekend.

Culbertson held its Frontier Days rodeos on Friday, June 12, and Saturday, June 13.

Event winners included Ekalaka’s Tucker Tooke in saddle bronc, Glendive’s Ben Ayre in steer wrestling and Seth Berg of Mandah, N.D., in bareback riding.

Ayre also earned first in tie-down roping with a time of 11.9 seconds. Kolby Sperry of Trotters placed second at 16.8 seconds.

The Great Falls team of Kenny Low and Shane Bessette captured first in team roping at 12.0 seconds. Tying for second at 14.1 seconds were Circle’s Trey Knight and Jon Hubing along with Harlem’s Tommy Champagne and Ty Kittson. Glasgow’s Drew Ellingson and Trevor Klind placed fourth.

Amy Sanborn of Willcox earned first in women’s barrels. Flaxville’s Keslie Goldhahn took second. Wibaux’s Brook Kosick had a time of 4.1 seconds for first in women’s breakaway. Other winners were Helena’s Austyn Rask in junior barrels and Great Falls’ Axton Mansch in junior breakaway.

Poplar hosted the Wild West Days’ rodeo on Saturday, June 13.

Earning first in events included Ekalaka’s Tooke in saddle bronc and Justin Boll of Bowman, N.D. in steer wrestling. Glasgow’s Jack Cornwell placed second in steer wrestling.

Big Timber’s Sherrick Sanborn won in tie-down roping at 9.4 seconds. Sidney’s Grady Larson took second-place honors.

Glasgow’s Brooke Billingsley finished with a time of 15.74 for first in women’s barrels. The Bridger team of Axton Mansch and Jesse Kruse earned first in team roping.

In women’s breakaway, Hysham’s Rylee Ogren was the winner at 3.5 seconds. Miles City’s Chalee Harms and Halliday’s Chesney Gjermundson tied for second at 3.8. Glasgow’s Billingsley took fourth. Cascade’s Sophia Neill won in the junior barrels and Great Falls’ Axton Mansch was the winner in junior breakaway.
