Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 98 calls from March 9-16.
The calls included the following: March 9
A male walked into the sheriff’s office to report a possible fraud call. The caller wanted $1,000 and made threats. Law enforcement suggested he block the number.
Deputies responded to B& S Quik Stop in Brockton where it was reported that someone had stolen checks and tried to cash the checks at the store on a closed account. The investigation continues.
Deputies received a report from Opportunity Bank in Culbertson regarding a SUV smashing the building’s cement wall and damaging an ATM machine. Video shows the driver getting out of the vehicle to look at the damage and then driving away from the scene. The suspect has been identified. The incident remains under investigation.
Deputies and the Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice were called to the laundromat in Wolf Point. Two individuals were detained for disorderly conduct.
March 10
Deputies responded to the Brockton city limits where an adult male said two other males tried to rob him with a knife. They stole his wallet. The incident remains under investigation.
While on patrol in the Culbertson area, a deputy made a traffic stop after a vehicle failed to dim his high beam lights. The driver didn’t have a drivers license. The deputy took the names of the occupants. Because a BIA canine was in the area, a free air sniff test was done of the vehicle. Michael Grey Bear, 23, and Lori Jo Grey Bear, 43, were each charged with possession of illegal drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
March 11
Deputies assisted FPTDLJ at the Silverwolf Casino to arrest John Dighans, 48, on authority of a warrant.
March 12
Deputies assisted FPTDLJ at TJ’s Quik Stop for a report of two males fighting. They both fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
March 14
Deputies assisted the Montana Highway Patrol and FPTDLJ for a rollover vehicle crash on County Road 1074 north of Wolf Point. Fire and ambulance also responded. The four occupants in the vehicle didn’t require immediate medical treatment. The driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
March 15
Deputies assisted FPTDLJ when a vehicle wouldn’t stop for law enforcement on Custer Street in Wolf Point. Later, FPTDLJ detained a female. She was taken to tribal jail for driving under the influence.
Deputies assisted FPTDLJ at the laundromat in Wolf Point of a report that an elderly man had been sitting there all day and was cold. He was transported to the warming center in Wolf Point.
