Bulldogs Edge MonDak Girls, 48-41
Bainville fought off Mon-Dak, 48-41, during District 2C girls’ basketball action on Saturday, Jan. 24. The Bulldogs led by only a 37-34 margin at the end of the third quarter.
Ahead by a 41-39 score, the Bulldogs increased their lead with a free throw by Jaylynn Bjorge and a three-point shot by Addison Hansen.
Lila Butikofer then scored off a pass from Hansen to put the margin at 47-39 with only 1:03 remaining.
Abby Lowes hit a turnaround shot for the Thunder to cut the gap to 47-41. A free throw by Bainville’s Jodi Albus helped put the game away.
Leading scorers for Bainville were Hailey Berwick with 13, Butikofer with 13 and Albus with 10.
Also scoring were Hansen with five, Chandi Johnson with four and Bjorge with three.
Lowes led MonDak with 20 points. Rylie Gebhardt scored 15 points.
Bainville gained a 13-8 lead in the first quarter, but Mon-Dak led 24-23 at the half.
The Bulldogs will travel to Savage on Friday, Jan. 30, and host Wibaux on Saturday.
