Along with being a three-sport athlete, Ayden Ator is involved in a series of organizations at Culbertson High School.
Ator’s list of involvement includes Explore America, Business Professionals of America, FFA, National Honor Society and Student Council. She serves as president of student council and secretary for FFA.
“I like hearing what the student body wants and trying to make a difference,” Ator said of being student council president.
She has excelled in BPA during her high school career, which included qualifying for nationals in SQL database fundamentals for three straight years. She has also performed well in parliamentary procedures. Ator says highlights of her trips to the national conference have included seeing new places and monuments.
Her favorite activities in FFA include floriculture, agronomy and parliamentary procedures along with farm and agribusiness management.
“I like learning more about the area that I come from,” Ator said benefits of being a member of FFA.
Ator, who carries a 4.0 grade point average, is a starter in both volleyball and basketball for the Cowgirls.
During track season, she competes in the javelin, discus, shot put and 400-meter dash.
“I like them all pretty much,” Ator said of the sports. “They each bring something different.”
She qualified for the divisional meet in the javelin and came just a few feet from advancing to the state meet. A goal for the upcoming season is qualifying for state.
Another highlight of last track season was guiding Culbertson elementary student Leddy Anderson around the track during a run at the district meet.
“I definitely enjoyed that,” Ator said. “There’s never a dull moment with little Leddy.”
After high school, Ator plans to major in special education when she attends Montana State University in Billings.
She has lived in Culbertson her entire life and says “the people” make the place special.
