Fort Kipp Celebration This Weekend
The annual Fort Kipp Celebration is set for Friday through Saturday. Camping day is Thursday. Dance categories will include adult men’s grass, chicken, fancy and traditional and women’s jingle, fancy and traditional, with categories for teen boys and girls, juniors, tiny tots and golden age contestants.
Grand entries are planned Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 1 and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1 and 7 p.m. Registration closes at noon on Saturday.
Specials will include contests for married couples. hand drums, hat and boot and a memorial year men’s grass dance special.
A candlelight ceremony is set for Friday and Papa Buggy’s Run, Walk and Relay is Saturday, with registration for the latter event opening at 8 a.m. A walk/run sponsored by HPDP is set for Sunday, with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Celebration advisor is Derrick Long Hair and Xavier Rattling Thunder is secretary. The announcer will be Patrick Okute’ Sica’ Ricker and Ceejay Black Dog will be the arena director.
